Preparing sprouted sathu maavu is a long and tedious process but nothing can beat the health benefits it has. But for a quick and easy way to prepare a health mix powder is by frying all the ingredients and make a powder.
You can prepare the powder on a weekend; store them in an air tight container. Make it a porridge when needed and make your baby enjoy their healthy recipe.
With this easy recipe from daily use ingredients, you can easily whip up your own flavor and prepare to the liking of your baby.
Ingredients
Add groundnut, if your baby is not allergic to it.
Can be given to babies over 6 months of age.
Dry fruits powder can be added after 10 months of age.
Method
- Rinse all the ingredients in water for 2-3 times and remove the specks if any.
- Now, dry all the ingredients under the sun.
- Roast all the dried ingredients.
- Roast the rice till they become puffy.
- Roast the dal and wheat till they are golden brown in color.
- Roast the sabudana or sago and grams till they become crispy.
- Roast the corn till they are golden brown and crackle.
- Roast the cashews, almonds and elaichi till they start giving an aroma.
- Now, add all the roasted ingredients in a mixer or blender and grind them till they have a powdery texture.
- Sift the flour to make it finer.
storage
The home-made sathu maavu or health mix powder can be stored in an airtight container. It can be placed inside a refrigerator for 6 months or outside in a cool dry place for 2 to 3 months.
How to prepare the sathu maavu porridge?
In a pan, take 2 tablespoons of sathu maavu powder and mix well with water and make sure that no lumpsare formed. Cook it on a medium flame for about 10 minutes till it starts thickening. Stir continuously until the porridge is fully cooked.
For babies above 1 year, milk can be added while cooking.
For additional flavors, add a little amount of palm jaggery into the porridge.
